The Polpharma Scientific Foundation was established in 2001. Its mission – expressed by the slogan “We help people of science” – is to support the development of pharmaceutical and medical sciences by financing scientific research. The main goal of the foundation is to finance research projects of exceptional importance for the development of medicine and pharmacy, undertaken by academic research centers and research and development institutions. The Foundations’ Scientific Council is represented by 20 professors of medical and pharmaceutical sciences. “The effects exceeded my wildest expectations” – admitted Jerzy Starak, the founder of the Foundation, welcoming the participants of the meeting. “We have created an organization that really supports scientists. I can safely say that what I once dreamed about has become a fact today.” Since the establishment of the Foundation, nearly PLN 27 million have been allocated for 78 grants selected among 687 scientific research projects, 66 scholarships to doctoral students, and prizes to the authors of the best master’s theses. The Foundation published 8 scientific notebooks ‘Progress of Polish Medicine and Pharmacy’.
